Postoperative Care

What can I expect after surgery?

1. Your surgeon may prescribe steroid and diuretic medications. Steroid medication may diminish some postoperative side-effects such as swelling, pain, nausea and vomit. However, in those patients with complications related to the bypass treatment, stomach ulcer, the use of these medications should be considered according to their health condition.

2. Your surgeon will recommend the use of compressive bandages which will help you to reduce swelling, (liposuction) and to promote wound healing. Your physician will indicate the adequate compressive garment according to your treatment.

Postoperative care

Part of the success of surgery depends on the postoperative care. It is very important to follow the surgeon´s recommendations to achieve the desired outcome. Dr. Nieto closely observes her patient´s convalescence and healing. Please do not hesitate to contact her if you have questions or concerns. Written instructions will be given for your postoperative care to you and your family.
