Perioperative wound infection rate in the calf implant surgery is low, but usually the patients undergoing surgery receive antibiotic prophylaxis to prevent wound infection. Drainage tubes are placed to remove blood and other fluids from the wound. The patient may experience some bruising and swelling as a natural part of the surgery.
