Breasts are a pair of glandular organs in women, which produce milk through the mammary glands. These glands are located in the middle part of the chest. Breast is composed of:
Nipple and areola:
Small projection located in the center of breast.
Fatty tissue:
Layer of fatty tissue that surrounds the mammary glands and extends throughout the breast.
Lactiferous or galactophores ducts::
Ducts lead from the lobules of the mammary gland to the tip of the nipple.
Inframammary fold: :
Line or crease located just below the breast.
Skin bag::
Skin membrane containing the gland.
Pectoralis major muscle :
Large flat muscle, situated at the anterior part of the chest wall.
Pectoralis minor muscle :
Thin flat muscle covered by the pectoralis major.
Retromammary space:
Area of tissue between the mammary gland and the surrounding muscle layer.
